Sustainable AI giving

Our 1% commitment

We commit 1% of collected earned revenue from the products, services and memberships we operate to charities working to make AI more sustainable. The commitment was first announced on October 15, 2026. On October 22, we chose to spread future giving across multiple charities in place of Stripe Climate.

How we calculate it

We calculate 1% of payments received, excluding sales taxes collected for remittance, refunds and reversed chargebacks, before processing fees, commissions, contractor charges, product costs and other business expenses. Where we earn a royalty or commission, our earned share is the basis.

Donations, grants, loans, owner capital, internal transfers and money collected for others are excluded. There is no cap or added customer charge. ACC donations and grants retain their designated purposes; any commitment from ACC earned income remains subject to its governing obligations.

Where the funds will go

We will spread our giving among charities working to reduce the environmental impact of AI and data-center infrastructure. This may include work on energy use, water efficiency, cooling and practical tools for measuring and reducing those impacts.

Recipients and allocations may vary over time. The commitment is a total of 1% of eligible earned revenue across the recipients we support. The first direct contribution under this updated policy is pending; completed gifts will be distinguished from amounts set aside. No partnership or endorsement is implied.

Tracking and payments

We will track eligible receipts, reconcile the 1% monthly and make contributions directly to the selected charities, retaining receipts. No automatic payment route to those charities has been established.

Past contributions through Stripe Climate remain contributions to its carbon-removal program. They are separate from future giving under this policy and are not described as donations to AI-development groups.

What this contribution means

This giving supports work intended to reduce AI’s environmental impact. It does not measure or cancel the electricity, water or emissions associated with our AI use. A purchase from us is not the customer’s charitable donation.
